The 11 September 2001 attacks were a heinous act of terrorism. We strongly condemn these attacks and express our deepest condolences to the victims, their families and all those who lost loved ones. No one should ever have to endure such a tragedy.
Terrorism has no religion, no nationality and no justification. It is a crime against humanity. We stand in solidarity with all victims of terrorism, everywhere in the world, and we reaffirm our commitment to peace, security and the protection of human life.
At the same time, we firmly believe that the 11 September attacks must not be used as a pretext to fuel Islamophobia, stigmatize Muslims or justify discrimination against any community. Collective blame is unjust, dangerous and contrary to the values of a fair, plural and inclusive society.
Today, more than ever, we must stand together against terrorism in all its forms and also against hate crimes targeting individuals because of their faith, ethnicity or background. A safer, more cohesive and humane world is only possible through mutual respect, dialogue and solidarity.
We remember the victims. We reject hatred. We stand for a more peaceful and inclusive world.
